The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, A. Yatseniuk intends to address The President of Ukraine, asking him to convene a Meeting of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC), to tackle the problem of Self-Capture of lands in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

He notified his intention at a meeting, held on Wednesday 30 January in Simferopol, of the Inter-departmental Commission responsible for considering the issues and proposals related to the return and settlement of Crimean Tatars in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Taking part in the meeting were; Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Leaders of Commissions within The Verkhovna Rada of the ARK, State Authorities, and Members of the Public, including Delegates of the Crimean Tatars.

A.Yatseniuk stated that he will recommend that the NSDC considers that matter of methodology for allocating land parcels to those requiring them, and 'review, once more, the whole range of problems', bearing in mind that today, migration issues in Crimea require an integrated approach'.

'I will address The President with an initiative to convene a meeting of the NSDC, at which we shall try to formulate an integrated response, said the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

A. Yatseniuk called the adoption of a Law to regulate the status of the deported a 'key matter' for the next Session of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He believes that a revised Law on this issue, dating from 2004 then vetoed by The President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, can form the basis for such a document.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed Delegates of The Medzhlis of Crimean Tatars at the meeting: 'We cannot take the road of self-captures. This is unconstitutional. I am pleading with you: let us stop and take an integrated decision embracing the matters of allocation of land parcels, financing of construction, and other issues related to social infrastructure', said the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.

According to A. Yatseniuk, 'a long drawn out process´, with regard to tackling the issue of land allocation in Crimea to the deported, leads to misunderstandings between the parties. He called on the parties involved in this process to talk to each other and to listen to the other´s point of view without emotion, since ' the most terrible thing confrontation between nations - is being fuelled by emotions, and we cannot allow this. We are one single Ukrainian people, we respect each of the nations and will do everything promised by the Power. But first of all, let us adhere to the Law, so that we may demand that the Power responds to our needs. Let us listen to one another', requested A. Yatseniuk.

Replying to a comment on the possibility of an International conflict through self-capture of land. A. Yatseniuk replied firmly: ‘I would like to use my position as Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada. There will be no explosion or conflict in Crimea. The Power will do everything possible for the unity and integrity of the State'.
